When Buildings Move is an evocative ethnography of Tatemono-En Open-Air Museum, with words and photography by Dr Laura Harris, lecturer in Sociology at the University of Southampton.
In early spring 2024, Harris immersed herself in the Open-Air Museum, engaging with those whose role it is to furnish the buildings with stories, while quietly encountering the ghosts that seem to reside within them.
I collaborated with Laura on the design of this publication, working closely with her photography and reflective writing to create a piece that supports and enhances the tone and sensibility of her research.
